Americo Makk, Hungarian born American (1927 - 2015)

Americo Makk was born in Hungary in 1927. He died in Hawaii in 2015.
Americo Makk studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Art in Budapest, Hungary, and at the Academy of Fine Art in Rome, Italy. It was at the academy in Rome where he met his future wife, Eva Holusa. In 1949, they moved to Brazil and were married. They both served as Professors of Art at the São Paulo Academy of Fine Art. In 1967, Americo, Eva, and their son, A.B. Makk moved to Hawaii. In 2013, the government of Hungary awarded Americo Makk the Gold Medal of Merit for his life’s contribution to the arts.
