Chotai Yonaha, Japanese (1933 - 2008)
Chotai Yonaha was born in 1933, on the Island town of Ishigaki, Japan.
He was a self-taught painter and potter. Chotai Yonaha painted portraits of President John F. Kennedy; U. S. astronaut Lieutenant Colonel L. Gordon Cooper; air pioneer Major General Benjamin Foulois; and Air Force Chief Major Sergeant Leslie Knot, the last three portraits are or have been exhibited at the Air Force Hall of Fame in Washington, DC.

His awards and achievements include Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Newcomer Award; Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Korin Award; Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Okinawa Prefecture Industry Design Competition Chairman’s Gold Prize; Shinsei Art Exhibition Grand Prize. His painting of the historic Shuri Castle was presented on a Japanese postage stamp.  The art of Chotai Yonaha is or has been exhibited and/or offered for sale in museums, galleries, auction houses and auction websites, government buildings, and fairs including but not necessarily limited to the following:
