Pétion Savain was born on February 15, 1906, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He died on July 27, 1973, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
He studied at the University of Fondwa in Leogane, Haiti, the J.B. Damier Vocational Arts School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti,
and at at the Art Students League in New York City, New York.
Pétion Savain was a prolific artist and a writer. He authored the book La Case de Damballah, published in 1939 by
Imprimerie de L'Etat, and republished in 1970 by Kraus Reprint.
