Jacobus Baas was born in The Netherlands in 1945. He immigrated to the United States in or around 1955.
He settled in southern California and became a well-known landscape painter. He is a founding member of the
Laguna Plein Air Association. He is also a signature member of the Plein Air Painters of Hawaii.
